[Kuniaki KUROKI] (1945-)
A Japanese glass artist. Born in Miyazaki prefecture.
After graduation from high school in 1963, Kuniaki joined Yamatani Glass Corporation, the oldest glass company in Japan as a company designer. He became independent in 1984, and then established his studio, Glass Art Miyazaki in Miyzaki prefecture in 1989.
In 1991, Kuniaki was gained Japan’s Modern Master Craftsman award. He has successfully integrated traditional Japanese aesthetics and Western glass craft, creating a unique and peerless world of glass.
He has received many honorific awards both in and outside of the country including the Grand Prix at the Paris Art Exhibition(1995) and has been creating his works vigorously as the founder of modern glass art in Japan.
