Sashiko is a Japanese traditional form of decorative reinforcement stitching. Sashiko running stitch technique is often used for purely decorative purposes in quilting and embroidery.
“Kogin-zashi” in Tsugaru district, “Hishi-zashi” in Nanbu district and “Shonai-sashiko” in Shonai district are the 3 major Sashiko in Japan.
