[Fujina ware]
Fujina ware is 1 style of Izumo ware made in Fujina in the town of Tamayu, Matsue City,Shimane Prefecture.
It is said that Funaki Yojibe Muramasa started making pottery at Fujina in 1764.
Most of the works have soft and warm images and consisted of everyday ware with yellow or blue glazes, called Izumo Blue.
[Zenshiro TSUCHIYA]
A Fujina ware potter in Fujina, Matsue city, Shimane prefecture. The name has been handed down from the first generation Zenshiro to the present generation, the 9th generation Zenshiro.
Each generation has mainly produced tea bowls in a style of the Lord Fumai.
- Zenshiro I (unknown-1786)
A potter in the middle Edo period.
Zenshiro was born to the family who had been unglazed earthenware craftsman for generations, and became a Rakuan ware potter. In 1780, he moved to Fujina on the order of Harusato Matsudaira, the feudal road of Matsue Domain as well as a ea ceremony master, and then he established the first Fujina ware kiln under the patrontage of Matsue Domain. He was good at painting on pottery.
- Zenshiro II (unknown-1821)
A potter in the late Edo period.
Zenshiro II succeeded the name in 1805, and worked Oniwayaki kilns in Maesute and Edo. He produced many masterpieces of the Lord Fumai style tea bowls, and was given the name and the gourd shaped stamp by Harusato Matsudaira, the feudal load of Matsue Domain.
