[Koshun KAWAMOTO] (1964-)
A Sashimonoshi (a craftsman who makes wood tea utensils such as boxes and shelves.) in Kyoto.
- First Generation
Received the name “Shousouken” from the 14th generation master of Urasenke,Tantansai.
- Second Generation
The elderest son of the first generation. After his graduation from Ritsumeikan University, he succeeded the second generation.
Third Generaion
The oldest son of the second generation Koshun. He studied the technique under his grandfather, the first generation Koshun. Also he studied under Kousai Shimada in 1986, and moved his studio to Ohara, the north of Kyoto.
He succeeded the third generation Koshun in 2006.
Using mulberry wood, he create wood tea utensils which fit to modern tea ceremony with traditional methods. His works are favored because they are practical and appreciative. He also created tea utensils using old materials of the corridor in Honenji temple, the main building of Orindo in Daitokuji temple, the main building of Ryouanji temple and so on.
He won many prizes.
