Hata Tokio (1911-2008)
A Yuzen kimono designer/dyer who was designated as a Living National Treasure of Japan.
He loves the beauty of nature, especially the pattern of a mandarin duck; the symbol of being together in harmony. The feature of his design can be said to be the gorgeous and outstanding floral pattern.
He opened up a new original field between beauty of Kyo Yu'zen and Kaga Yu'zen. He accomplished the exhibition both within and outside Japan, such as he designed the furisode for Diana; British queen (1961-1997) at that time.
In October 2007, he left the stage working as a designer, passed away in February, 2008. (Age of 97)
